Lee Camp impressed with Neil Redfearn but knows results have to come

Rotherham goalkeeper Lee Camp knows Neil Redfearn’s bedding in period has to start producing points soon.

Redfearn has a massive job on his hands as he tries to change the philosophy of the side he inherited from Steve Evans while also trying to steer them away from relegation danger in the Championship.

Owing to a hectic schedule, an injury crisis and a tough run of games it has hardly been a honeymoon period for the new boss and, unlike Brentford, the Millers have yet to see an immediate spike in results following a change in management.

Indeed, they have taken just one point from the last three games, with Friday’s defeat to Sheffield Wednesday highlighting just what a job Redfearn has.

Camp has been impressed with what the former Leeds boss is trying to do, but, with his side in the relegation zone with just nine points from 13 games, he accepts it’s time to start producing.

“It's going to take a little while but, unfortunately, with the position that we're in and the way results have been, we haven't got that long to turn things around,” he said.

“He's made a good impact. The results haven't reflected that but I can certainly assure you that he's stamped his authority on us.

“He's made it very clear what he expects, how he wants his team to play, and it's unfortunate that what he's trying to do, what we're trying to do on the training ground, hasn't quite come out in the games as of yet.

“It's come out in little bits, in little spells, but I think we're in a bit of a transitional period in trying to take on the manager's information and get out there on the pitch.

“But he's very thorough in what he wants to do, he's very clear in his approach, and it's been very positive.”

Although they have a clear week to recuperate from a hectic schedule it does not get any easier for the Millers as they face an away double-header of the toughest proportions as they follow up Saturday’s trip to Derby with a visit to Middlesbrough three days later.
