Greg Halford hints at being signed under false pretences

Forgotten Rotherham man Greg Halford has hinted on Twitter that he was signed under false pretences in the summer and is a victim of broken promises.

The 30-year-old, who is reported to be the club's highest earner, has been one of the biggest talking points this season,  having being stripped of the captaincy after just eight games, dropped from the matchday squad and then taking to Twitter to bemoan his situation.

Halford played the first match of the season at right-back before moving into a central position where he came unstuck with a number of performances which he has described as "below par".

He was jettisoned out of the side after a 3-1 home defeat to Fulham and has yet to feature under new boss Neil Redfearn.

He's currently suffering from an injury, but is keen to help the Millers out of their current slump when he returns to fitness, ideally in a more advanced position.

Again on Twitter, Halford replied to a Millers fan questioning his defending by saying: "It's not where I've spent my entire career and it's not where I was signed to play. but that's no excuse for my below par performances. A lot of promises were broken to me and my head wasn't."

In a separate tweet, he added: "But I do think I'd be able to help. Not at the mo tho while I'm injured."
