Millers suffer more FA Cup misery at Leeds
Rotherham
suffered their annual FA Cup disappointment as they were beaten 2-0
at Leeds in a game where both sides had one eye on midweek's
Championship fixtures.
Leeds
winger Mustapha Carayol scored on the stroke of
half-time as he sent in a stunning 20-yard effort before Souleymane Doukara added a second at the death after an embarrassing mix-up between Lee Camp and Frazer Richardson.
The
Boro loanee clearly enjoys playing against the Millers as he scored a
similar goal against them last month when on loan at Huddersfield.
Rotherham
were far from out played, but they were unable to force any clear-cut
chances.
Instead
it was Leeds who nearly doubled their lead when Stuart Dallas crashed
his 18-yard shot into the crossbar.
And Leeds did it make it two at the death when Doukara capitalised on a defensive error to walk the ball home.
Carayol
provided the only real moment of quality with his goal on the brink
of half-time, the eighth time this season the Millers have conceded
between minutes 40-45 this season.
Richie
Smallwood – The battling midfielder was at his imperious best,
winning tackle after tackle and breaking play up well.
Mustapha
Carayol (1-0 45 mins) – Carayol repeated his trick of a few weeks
ago when he was on loan at Huddersfield by slamming a swerving shot
high into the net form the corner of the area.
