Rotherham boss Neil Redfearn praises front two in Brighton win

Rotherham manager Neil Redfearn believes the front pairing of Danny Ward and Matt Derbyshire laid the foundations of their impressive win over Brighton.

Both men found the scoresheet in the 2-0 success, Ward with his second goal of the season and Derbyshire on his first start since November.

Along with the vital goals, the pair worked in tandem to give Brighton's defence a torrid evening and boss Redfearn said they led his side from the front.

"I thought the front two were magnificent," Redfearn said. "Their energy and work-rate, they got hold of the ball, ran in behind and looked a real threat for 90 minutes.

"The fact that you have got that energy up front helps you defend from the front. It was a big factor in the game.

"We deserved it, I don't think anybody could doubt that.

"From the first minute we played some good football, we were always on the front foot, I thought that we played at the right tempo, we pressed them at the right times.

"Brighton played their part, they are a good football side, but I thought the difference was the front two."
