Rotherham goalkeeper Adam Collin joins Aberdeen

Rotherham goalkeeper Adam Collin has joined Scottish Premiership title chasers Aberdeen.

The Wembley hero, who has played just twice for the Millers this season, has signed for the Dons on loan until the end of the season.

Boss Neil Redfearn signalled the end of Collin's two-and-a-half-year stay at New York Stadium was on the horizon with the arrival of Alex Cairns last week.

The 30-year-old has struggled for game time this season, initially being behind Kelle Roos in the pecking order before becoming number two to Lee Camp.

He has not been in the matchday squad for the last two games and will now leave, with his contract up at the end of the campaign.

Aberdeen, who are three points behind Celtic in the Premiership, are on the lookout for a new goalkeeper after Danny Ward was recalled by parent club Liverpool.

"Adam was first choice and he is looking for that sort of role but Lee Camp is playing well, he is the number one choice and it is frustrating for Adam," the Millers boss said last week.

"Adam has been very patient, but Lee is playing well. To be fair he has been a good professional but the conversation I have had is that he wants to play."

Collin wrote himself into Millers folklore with two penalty saves in the Sky Bet League One play-off final shootout against Leyton Orient, winning his side promotion to the Championship.

He remained first-choice in the side as the Millers took on the second tier, before then-boss Steve Evans brought in Emi Martinez on loan from Arsenal at the back end of last season.

Collin has left having made 81 appearances since joining from Carlisle in 2013.

His exit means that only Lee Frecklington and Richie Smallwood remain at the club from the 2013/14 promotion-winning season.
