Rotherham waiting on Birmingham for Andrew Shinnie deal
Rotherham are waiting on Birmingham to do some business in the transfer window before they can bring Andrew Shinnie in to New York Stadium.
The 26-year-old was expected to join the Millers on loan from their Championship rivals before their trip to Cardiff at the weekend, but the move was held up at Birmingham's end.
Boss Neil Redfearn hopes the deal will go through in the early part of this week, but admits it depends on a chain of transfers being completed.
"It's still ongoing. He's somebody we fancy. These things
take time," the Millers boss said.
"We've got to be patient. We were hoping it would get done before
Saturday, but we're not at that stage yet.
"Other clubs are involved. It's not just
ourselves in the transaction. Players have got to come and go from a few clubs.
"He's an attacking midfielder with flair and an eye for goals. He would add real
competition for places.
"Our interest in the transfer market has raised the
performances of our players. They want to stay in.
"If you look at Paul Green
and Richie Smallwood, they've been absolutely outstanding for the last three or
more games.
"They work tirelessly. It's raising the bar, and this is what we
want. It's an ideal scenario."
Shinnie has scored one goal in 17 appearances for Blues this season, but has not featured in the league since January 2.
As well as the Scot's impending arrival, Redfearn is hopeful of at least one more coming through the door before the transfer window shuts next Monday.
"There's maybe one other," he said. "We've got to concentrate on what we
can do and hopefully we can get it done."
