Lee Frecklington: Rotherham dressing room is happiest in a long time
Rotherham’s
plight in their battle to keep hold of their Championship status is looking far
rosier after three wins on the bounce and midfielder Lee Frecklington says the
dressing room is a happy place.
The
Millers have given themselves a superb chance of beating the drop after taking
an impressive nine points from nine in games with Brentford, Sheffield
Wednesday and Middlesbrough.
That
leaves them just a point adrift of 21st-placed MK Dons just a
fortnight after the season looked lost following a drab 1-0 loss at Reading.
After
that night in Berkshire the Millers were six points behind the Dons and staring
relegation in the face.
However,
Neil Warnock has inspired a revival and Frecklington – at the forefront
following his return from injury – is revelling in the positive mood around New
York Stadium.
"It's
been a massive turnaround,” he admitted. “Winning games makes it a happier
changing room and it is amazing what a positive result can do and now we have
had three on the bounce, I think it is the happiest that it has been for a long
time.
"The
gaffer has come in and changed ideas and tactics. Together with the positive
results, they have combined to create a good changing room."
"It's
the league, anyone can beat anyone and that is what the gaffer has helped
install here and there's a lot of confidence and belief that if we do what we
do well, we will give anyone a tough game and I think the last three results
have proved that.
"It's
been hard work and just getting back to basics. We are making the game ugly at
times and not pretty to watch. But we are scrapping for our lives and if we
turn any game into a fight, we will give anyone a game.”
