Rotherham's new kit: How Twitter reacted to its revealing

Rotherham will be playing the 2016-17 season in a new kit after they revealed their brand new strip.

Again made by Puma, the Millers return to a predominantly white sleeve and collar with a splash of yellow as a nod to the famous 1980-81 kit.

However, the design has divided opinions in the Millers support. Here is how Twitter has reacted to the new kit.

Some love it

Some hate it

And some are indifferent

WATCH: Matt Derbyshire celebrates in crowd after red card against Leeds

Matt Derbyshire could have been forgiven for sulking in the dressing room after his harsh-looking red card against Leeds on Saturday.

Derbyshire was sent for an early bath midway through the second half after a challenge with Gaetano Berardi, which, although left the Leeds defender needing stitches, looked far from intentional.

But the striker, who has been showing his willingness to sacrifice himself for the team by playing out position in recent weeks, didn't even bother to get changed before heading straight up into the hospitality area of the main stand to cheer on his team-mates during a tense and nervy final 30 minutes.

And Derbyshire reacted with glee when Greg Halford tucked away with winning penalty at the death before being embraced by a jubilant fan.

The dismissal, which was his first in English football, looks set to earn him a three-match suspension, unless it is overturned, with boss Neil Warnock confirming that the Millers would be appealing.

Eight players you forgot played for Rotherham

There's been plenty of players pull on the famous red and white shirt over the last decade as Rotherham fought their way back up the leagues.

A drop to the bottom division, then six years getting out of it followed by three years of Steve Evans means that there has been an especially high turnover of players at the Millers.

The loan and short-term market has been particularly used well, meaning that there is likely to be a few forgotten men in that time.

Here's eight players that you might not remember over the last decade.

David Stockdale
The goalkeeper was brought to Don Valley on loan from Fulham by Mark Robins during the 2008-09 season. He made eight appearances, but was recalled at the end of his two-month stay. Stockdale went on to get a call-up to the England squad in 2012 but had to pull out due to his wedding. He is currently at Brighton.

Curtis Woodhouse
Sheffield-born Woodhouse returned to his Yorkshire roots when the Millers signed him on loan from Birmingham in January 2003. The former Sheffield United midfielder made 11 appearances for Ronnie Moore's men as they finished in lowed mid-table in 2002-03, but a permanent move was not pursued and he turned to a career in professional boxing.

Grant Leadbitter
Leadbitter was a youngster at Sunderland when he came to Millmoor with the Millers in their first season out of the Championship under Mick Harford. The midfielder proved himself to be a player with a bright future as he impressed in an eight-game spell which yielded one goal. He went back to play in the Black Cats' first-team that season and is now at Middlesbrough.

Bruce Dyer
Rotherham has been the home to plenty of journeyman down the years so it was perhaps no surprise when Bruce Dyer arrived at Millmoor in the early part of 2007-08 on loan from Doncaster. However, his stay was short-lived as he failed to score in three appearances for the League Two Millers. He retired in 2009.

Ian Thomas-Moore
Thomas-Moore's move to Rotherham was a case of nepotism at its best as he was signed by his dad Ronnie Moore on a short-term deal in 2011. Unfortunately for Ronnie, his son waited until the game after he got the sack to do anything as the striker bagged a hat-trick in a 6-0 win at Lincoln - his only goals for the club. He is currently a scout for Hartlepool, again hired by his dad.

Jon Harley
Harley had Champions League and England youth international appearances to his name after starting life at Chelsea, but the left-sided player's career was in decline when Andy Scott signed him on loan in October 2011. He made 12 appearances in an inconsistent side before returning to parent club Notts County.

Matt Tubbs
It could be easy to forget that Tubbs played for the Millers owing to the entire lack of impact made. He was the subject of a year-long chase by boss Steve Evans, who kept reminding everyone of his goalscoring prowess, and finally arrived on loan from Bournemouth in time for the 2013-14 League One campaign. However, he scored just one goal in 21 appearances.

Toumani Diagouraga
Not many people would have expected Diagouraga to go on to be one of the top midfielders in the Championship when he came to the Millers on loan in the 2006-07 League One relegation season. A 19-year-old gangly-limbed midfielder, there were times when it looked as if he had never kicked a ball before in his seven appearances at Millmoor.

Neil Warnock: The good, the bad and the ugly

Neil Warnock cannot walk away from the game after becoming Rotherham's new manager on a deal until the end of the season.

The 67-year-old, who featured over 50 times for the Millers between 1969-71 is on a 16-game short-term gig at New York Stadium, charged with staving off relegation.

Warnock is one of the most colourful characters in the game - thought to be what attracted the Millers chairman Tony Stewart - and has often courted controversy.

Here's an off-beat look at the good, the bad and the ugly of Warnock's managerial career.

Promotion king
A 36-year career in the dugout has yielded plenty of success for Warnock, who has a penchant for winning promotion.

1986–87Conference winners (promotion to Division 4) – Scarborough
1989–90Division 3 Playoff winners (promotion to Division 2) – Notts County
1990–91Division 2 Playoff winners (promotion to Division 1) – Notts County
1994–95Division 2 Playoff winners (promotion to Division 1) – Huddersfield Town
1995–96Division 3 Playoff winners (promotion to Division 2) – Plymouth Argyle
2005–06Championship runners-up (promotion to Premier League) – Sheffield United

2010–11Championship winners (promotion to Premier League) – Queens Park Rangers

Three facts
Warnock is undoubtedly a football man, but there are many facets to Warnock. Here's four things you might not know about him.

- He is a qualified chiropodists, citing ingrowing toenails as his speciality.

- He lives on a farm in Devon and drives a tractor.

- He is a qualified referee.

- He admits enjoying poetry and getting emotional during films.

Battle of Bramall Lane
One of Warnock's biggest controversies came when he was manager of Sheffield United and they played West Brom in a fiery encounter which escalated and ended in abandonment.

Trailing 2-0 and down to 10 men, the Blades' afternoon got even worse when George Santos was dismissed for a shocking tackle on Andy Johnson seconds after coming on as a sub. In an ensuing melee Patrick Suffo become the third Blade to see red for head-butting Derek McInness. The Baggies added a third goal soon after and then Michael Brown limped off to leave the hosts with just seven players. Then, under encouragement from Warnock, Rob Ullathorne was also injured and unable to carry on, leaving referee Eddie Wolstenholme no choice but to abandon the game in the 82nd minute. The Blades were hoping for the game to be replayed, but the FA awarded the 3-0 win to the Baggies.

Relegation fire-fighter
One of the biggest attractions of Warnock to the Millers is that he has a track record of SOS jobs, twice saving clubs from relegation after going in at the back end of the season. He first did it at Torquay in the early 1990s, losing just five of the final 15 games to climb off the foot of the Football League and then more pertinently, he pulled off the great escape at QPR in the Championship in 2010. In trouble, Warnock's Rangers lost only four of their last 14 games of the campaign and they finished in comfortable mid-table.

Other controversies
Warnock has been involved in plenty of other scraps and scrapes throughout his career. Former Bury and Burnley manager Stan Ternent was once said "I cannot abide that man" after accusing Warnock of sending Kevin Blackwell to listen in on Ternent's team-talk in 2001. Warnock denied the claim, responding: "Stan says a lot when he is not in a good mood."

Although reunited now, Blackwell and Warnock also fell out for several years. In partnership at Sheffield United together for several years, Warnock had his nose put out of joint when Blackwell left to become Leeds' manager. He criticised the job Blackwell did in the 2004-05 season at Elland Road, while also clashing on the touchlines.

Even when out of the game Warnock has made waves and riled Crystal Palace winger Jason Puncheon into posting potentially libellous tweets. As a guest presenter on talkSPORT Warnock ridiculed Puncheon for an embarrassing penalty miss, claiming that he did not have the mental strength to score in a pressure situation. Puncheon responded by making wholly unprintable accusations about Warnock. The pair were awkwardly reunited a few months later when Warnock returned to Crystal Palace.

'Lino, just try and show me that you're not biased all the time'
Rotherham fans are no strangers to touchline histrionics having to witness Steve Evans snarl, spit and lose his cool with anyone who goes near him for three years. And Warnock is the master of match official berating on the sidelines, constantly chipping away in the ears of linesman, referees and fourth officials, as highlighted in this amusing clip.

Warnock the winger
Warnock is no stranger to the Millers, having pulled on the red and white shirt over 50 times between 1969-71. Although going on to have a distinguished career in management, his time as a player at Millmoor is not remembered too fondly.

Half-time rant
The Millers players will know that they are liable to get the hairdryer treatment if they are below-par as Warnock is known for his half-time rants in the dressing room. This below clip, filmed when he was in charge of Huddersfield in the mid-90s, shows Warnock losing his cool in spectacular fashion after seeing his 2-0 come in at half-time. He tears into most players but saves his best for young striker Andy Booth by suggesting he was not in the game and bellowing: 'You're in f*cking Latvia'.

Rotherham's player of the month for January: You decide

Rotherham's first month of the new year was a mixed bag on the pitch.

They took four points from four games in the league, ended an 18-game wait for a draw but were also dumped out of the FA Cup and suffered a damaging loss to Charlton.

There have been some stand-out performances along the way, so here's a chance to vote for the inaugural Millers Time player of the month.

Here's a look at the candidates.

Lee Camp

A contender for the player of the season, Camp has been impressive throughout, but particularly at Preston where the game would have been over long before a last-gasp defeat had it not been for a string of fine saves. He kept one clean sheet, but has been at fault for none of the goals that went past him.

Kirk Broadfoot

Broadfoot was Rotherham's very own Braveheart in the 2-0 win over Brighton, putting in arguably the best individual display of the season to keep the Seagulls at bay. He has been an assured presence for much of the month as well, wearing the armband in Lee Frecklington's absence.

Joe Mattock

The left-back has turned into one of the Millers' most consistent players this season and had a solid month in January. In fact, arguably no one was more consistent than him as he proved his sound defensive capabilities along with an ability to get forward.

Richard Smallwood

The battling midfielder is never far away from the top of the ratings and if he plays well, the Millers usually follow suit. Smallwood had stand-out games against Leeds and Brighton while was probably the best player against QPR.

So, who gets your vote? It's decision time.

Rotherham's biggest flops in the transfer market

Jordan Bowery and Greg Halford have to be considered as transfer flops for the Millers. Here we look at other famous mistakes in the transfer market.

With Jordan Bowery leaving Rotherham last week and Greg Halford allowed to follow him - if he has any takers - the sad reality is that they have both been unequivocal flops when so much was expected of them.

Bowery arrived at New York Stadium last summer as a club-record £250,000 buy from Aston Villa and was the poster boy of an exciting new era for the Millers as they contemplated life in the Championship on the back of some financial backing.

However, the striker never got anywhere near returning that investment and managed just six goals in 44 appearances, providing little goalscoring threat and even less of a presence in attack.

He recently returned from a loan spell at Bradford, where he played just three times in six weeks at Valley Parade and has joined Oxford after agreeing to end his Millers contract.

Halford’s fall from grace has been much quicker in materialising as he has endured a torrid six months at the club.

The utility player arrived as Steve Evans’ marquee player and was handed the armband for the start of the campaign, only to lose it after just eight games before disgracing himself on Twitter and being sent to Birmingham on loan.

He has also been unable to win over new boss Neil Redfearn and has been told he has no future at the club, though he has suggested otherwise on Twitter.

All of this makes both Bowery and Halford two of the biggest transfer flops in the club’s history.

But which others fall into that category? Let’s have a look.

Gijsbert Bos

Poor old Gijsbert, he can never avoid lists like these. The Dutch striker, distinguishable for a number of reasons, was brought to the Millers for a paltry £20,000 in 1997 as one of Ronnie Moore’s first signings. However, it did not take Moore long to work out that the blonde-haired white-booted front man was not all that and he managed only 18 appearances in his first season at Millmoor, which brought four goals, with just two the following season.

Matt Tubbs

After a year-long pursuit of Tubbs and a prolific goalscoring record when previously playing for Steve Evans, big things were expected of him when he finally arrived at the Millers on a six-month loan ahead of the 2013-14 campaign. However, that simply never materialised into anything of note. The striker did not break his duck until November – in his 14th appearance – and that was the only goal for the Millers as he returned to Bournemouth at the end of his disappointing spell.

Paolo Vernazza

The former Arsenal midfielder was supposed to represent a better quality of player when he arrived with the Millers trying to establish themselves as a second-tier side in the mid-2000s. However, the man with the pedigree was found to be well below the level of players who had come up through the leagues with Moore’s men. His weak and powderpuff displays in midfield earned him the nickname ‘Vanessa’ from fans and he epitomised a dire 2004-05 season which ended in relegation. He made 30 appearances that campaign but left midway through the following one.

Nicky Adams

Brought to the Millers to help their 2013-14 promotion push in the January transfer window, Adams promised to get “bums off seats” when he arrived and his pedigree – he’d played in the Championship for Leicester – brought excitement. However, just 106 days later he was sold to Bury after making 15 appearances. Boss Steve Evans suggested that his hasty sale was due to his unwillingness to track back.

Mark Druce

There was real hope that Mark Druce could be the man to help lead the Millers out of trouble in 1996-97 after scoring in his first four matches of a loan spell from Oxford. However, when he signed permanently two games later for £50,000 he suddenly forgot where the net was and did not score again that season as Danny Bergara’s men hopelessly fell to relegation. He only managed one more in 18 appearances the following campaign, meaning he’d scored one goal in 32 appearances since signing permanently.

Scott Loach

As a goalkeeper who had been in the England squad just over 12 months before joining the Millers, Loach’s arrival was similar to Bowery’s in showcasing that the club was swimming in new waters. However, he could only manage just four appearances and did not feature again following a monumental error in a 2-0 defeat at Ipswich. Several loan moves all failed and he left the Millers in the summer after just one season.

WATCH: Rotherham goalkeeper Alex Cairns' initiation song

A football dressing room is a daunting place to walk in to at the best of times, full of cut-throat pranks and relentless banter.

But it is even worse as a new arrival when you are forced to do the dreaded initiation - singing in front of your new team-mates.

And in the modern world of social media and technology, an embarrassing rendition of a player's favourite song is no longer restricted to the confines of the room, it soon gets shared with the world.

That is exactly what happened to new goalkeeper Alex Cairns, who was forced to sing in front of his new colleagues on his first overnight away trip.

With the Millers staying in a hotel ahead of their game with Cardiff, Cairns took the floor as they were eating their evening meal and it was caught on camera by prankster-in-chief Matt Derbyshire.

In fairness to Cairns, a free transfer at the start of the month, he could have gone down the easy route of taking on Wonderwall or something by the Killers. But the 23-year-old instead opted to sing 1997 Eurotrash classic Barbie Girl by Aqua.

And the results are not particularly impressive! Don't take our word for it, judge for yourselves!
