Neil Redfearn confident of agreeing Grant Ward extension

Rotherham boss Neil Redfearn expects there to be no problems with extending Grant Ward's stay at the club.

The Tottenham star's loan is up after this weekend and Ward himself cast doubt on his future by conflicting what boss Redfearn had said regarding an extension.

However, an agreement is in place with Spurs, but both clubs are trying to overcome issues with the administration of the deal.

And Redfearn does not expect Saturday's clash with Charlton to be his last.

"We've got an agreement with Spurs and it's an ongoing thing," Redfearn said.

"We want to keep him. Spurs like the idea that he's developing with us. He's coming on.

"I think Spurs have realised he's in a good place at this moment in time.

"It crossed borders between it being a normal loan and a youth loan so it had to be done in a certain way to get it to January.

"There is an agreement after that. It's just about fine-lining the agreement and getting hold of the relevant people.

"Spurs have been good with us. The sooner we can sort it out, the more settled Grant can be.

"He's developing into a real asset and a top-class player.

"It's just sorting out the fine details of the agreement. That takes dialogue between the two clubs.

"I've got confidence that Grant will be with us. I've really enjoyed working with the kid and there has been a real difference in him.

"We've shown some belief in him and opened up his mind. He looks a really polished performer."
