Rotherham's home run ended by quickfire QPR
Rotherham's
three-game winning run at New York Stadium ended as they were made to
pay for missed chances in a 3-0 loss to QPR.
The
Millers enjoyed a superb start to the game, pinning Rangers back in
their own half and created a host of opportunities to lead.
The
best of them came just after the half-hour when Paul Green hit a low
shot into the post and Matt Derbyshire somehow allowed Nedum Onuoha
to block his rebound when he should have scored.
The
dangers of not scoring were apparent and they came to fruition early
in the second half as two goals in two minutes won it for the
visitors.
First
Junior Hoilett rolled into the bottom corner after shirking off
several challenges and then Matt Phillips drilled home after latching
on to a throughball.
The
Millers had nothing in response and suffer a first defeat on home
soil since December 5, made worse by Sebastien Polter's late effort.
The
Millers were well on top during the first half when Paul Green hit
the post and the rebound fell to Matt Derbyshire. The striker was
slow off the mark and allowed Nedum Onuoha to deflect his shot wide.
Not going in front during that spell proved crucial.
Richie
Smallwood – More of the same from Smallwood who was Rotherham's
engine in midfield. Constantly winning his battles and was the source
of most of the attacks.
Junior
Hoilett (1-0 52 minutes) – A surging run saw the winger get into
the area and he rolled the ball past Lee Camp
Matt
Phillips (2-0 54 minutes) – Phillips ran on to a long ball and
after slipping past Kirk Broadfoot, he fired home.
Sebastien
Polter (3-0 90 minutes) – With the Millers attacking Polter was
able to tap in from inside the six-yard box as Rangers broke.
