Rotherham boss Neil Warnock hails Millers miraculous recovery
Rotherham manager Neil Warnock believes his side produced the result of the season with their comeback heroics against Derby. The game was done and dusted midway through the second half as the hugely impressive Rams sauntered to a 3-0 lead, but an unbelievable late rally from the Millers saw them claim the most valuable of points, with Danny Ward and Leon Best's double lifting the roof on the AESSEAL New York Stadium.
With 10 minutes to go, Warnock was about to reflect on what still had been an impressive week for his side having beaten Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough before the late, late show made it even more profitable. And he believes the desire of his side helped spark the shock turnaround.
"I don’t know really what I can say that I
haven’t said before," Warnock said. "I’m so proud of them and when they came in I sat them down
and said that.
"If we had been beaten 3-0 I would have to them, ‘Well done this
week lads’ for the effort they have put in.
"I was going to go and say well done to
them, there was no b*llockings today, they have given me everything, they were
just better than us.
"Alright
there were a couple of silly mistakes but when you see that camaraderie, you
don’t see that very often I have only seen that at promotion sides so it great
for me to see that develop.
"I think this is the result of the season,
let alone the day. I don’t think there will be another like that this season at
that level.
"It’s just incredible. I don’t know about the players, it’s me that
needs the full week off, I am knackered."
