Leon Best not training with Millers as Neil Redfearn admits he likes Hibernian's Jason Cummings
Former Newcastle and Blackburn striker Leon Best has not been training with Rotherham, boss Neil Redfearn has confirmed.
The 29-year-old, who is without a club since his summer release from Rovers, was reported to have been on trial with the Millers and Redfearn says he was brought to their attention, but nothing will come of it.
"Leon Best got mentioned to us," Redfearn said. "I think he
had something else going off, he is a player who has been about, but I can't comment too much on that, interest wise, but he is someone who got mentioned to
us."
Asked whether Best, who is thought to be close to a deal at Huddersfield, had been training at Roundwood, Redfearn said: "No, I think he had prior things."
One striker who could be on Redfearn's radar is Hibernian striker Jason Cummings.
The 20-year-old is enjoying a fine start to his career at Easter Road and has added 10 goals in 15 games to the 21 he scored last season.
Redfearn admitted he admires the young Scot, but stopped short of saying whether he will make a move for him.
"He is someone who is doing
really, really well," the former Leeds boss said. "I wouldn’t deny that I have got interest in someone like
that but we have got interest in a lot of players.
"We are looking at a lot of
players, I’m not going to say anyone will be here the next day."
