Rotherham midfielder Paul Green confident of positive result at Middlesbrough

Midfielder Paul Green is positive Rotherham will be able to get something from tomorrow night’s trip to Middlesbrough.

The Millers head back out on the road for another daunting trip just three days after their Halloween horror show at Derby on Saturday where they were blown away in a 3-0 defeat.

That game represented the worst performance of Neil Redfearn’s four-game tenure and led to the new boss heavily criticising his players.

Things don’t get any easier with Tuesday’s trip up the A1, and despite Green admitting that morale is low in the camp, he is predicting a response at the Riverside.

“It sets us back again,” he said of the performance at Derby. “It's not acceptable, to be honest. He's put a game-plan together and we haven't carried it out.

“We need to knuckle down. We were in yesterday and we'll be back at it on Monday for the game against Boro on Tuesday. Derby was not acceptable

“Heads are down a bit. But we've got to carry on. It's downbeat in the dressing room afterwards. We're all disappointed ourselves. We've all got to knuckle down, make sure we're compact against Boro and I'm sure we'll get something up there.”

Green, who came on as a half-time substitute against his former club at the iPro, attracts regular criticism from fans for his performances in the Millers midfield.

However, the 30-year-old was singled out for praise by Redfearn.

“I thought there were one or two players that showed they can, to be fair to Paul Green when he came on he got on the ball and tried to play and showed a big heart,” he said.

“I mentioned that afterwards, it's important.

“He might not be the most fashionable but he has got a big heart and wants to play and they are the type of players you need.”
