Danny Ward injury latest: Rotherham hopeful ahead of weekend
Rotherham are hoping that injury-prone striker Danny Ward is not set for another spell on the sidelines.
The 23-year-old's first 11 months at the Millers have been beset by fitness problems and he hobbled out of Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Wolves after just 12 minutes with an ankle injury.
The club's medical staff have been working around the clock to ensure Ward is fit for Friday's Championship clash with Blackburn, with the Millers' options in attack already weak-looking.
If he does not make it, a third spell of the season on the sidelines beckons, having missed the 0-0 draw with Preston in August before a three-game stint in the treatment room after suffering a back spasm in the warm-up to Neil Redfearn's first game in charge at Brentford.
Redfearn is desperate for the former Huddersfield man to be fit on Friday as he his short of quality in attack.
Leon Best is serving the final game of his three-match ban, Jonson Clarke-Harris is still proving to be hit and miss, Matt Derbyshire has looked a shadow of his early 2015 self and Jerry Yates has one first-team substitute's appearance to his name.
"We have not got a big squad and it affects what you can do off the bench," moaned Redfearn.
The Millers boss has issues at the back as well, with Stephen Kelly and Farrend Rawson missing out at the weekend.
Redfearn also hopes Kelly can make the trip to Ewood Park, but Rawson has undergone surgery on a pubic bone injury and is unlikely to feature before Christmas.
