The 29-year-old was making his first return to the South Yorkshire club since his 2011 exit and was handed a shirt instead of Benik Afobe.
He played 77 minutes, missing a good chance to get on the scoresheet in the second half, before making way to a standing ovation from the home support.
Le Fondre, who represented the Millers with distinction for just over two years, scoring 54 goals, has struggled to replicate that form at Molineux, finding the net just three times in 18 appearances.
And Jackett admitted Le Fondre got the shirt because he thought it "might be his day".
"It was more about Adam Le Fondre coming back to his former club rather than Benik not playing,” Jackett said.
Special mention to the @OfficialRUFC fans absolutely outstanding reception for me! Truly humbled by it! Really hope you stay up!Thank you ❤️— Adam Le Fondre (@A1F1E9) December 5, 2015
