Rotherham boss Neil Redfearn does not read Greg Halford's Twitter comments

Rotherham boss Neil Redfearn says he is not interested in Greg Halford's Twitter antics.

The Millers reject, who has been told he has no future at the club, has taken to the social media site on a regular basis this season to air his frustration at his situation.

He slammed club "politics" after he was left out of the matchday squad against Burnley in October, suggested he has been signed under false pretences, hinted that he had not been told he was no longer in Redfearn's plans and then appeared to take a swipe at outgoing assistant manager Eric Black this week.

Redfearn said he has not read any of the comments and is only concerned in helping Halford find a new club.

"Greg has got to sort himself out," Redfearn said. "He's got to go and get fixed up. The club are trying to aid in him that, putting his name about.

"We're trying to help so he can go and enjoy the rest of his career.

"I can't do anything about what people put on social media. I don't read things like that anyway. I'm not that interested.

"From my point of you, we're trying to look after, and do the best by, the lads who are not in the picture and that will continue to happen."

In response to Halford's claims that he was not told about his future, Redfearn added: "Greg had a meeting with Paul Douglas and the situation was explained to him. We're trying our best to get him fixed up.

"There is no malice in it. There are players who don't have a sight of the first team. We wish them well and hope they can get fixed up so they can continue their careers.

"It's not something I want to get drawn into. Some players take it well and go and get on with their business, like Jordan Bowery, and hopefully everybody gets what they need out of it.

"We hope somebody comes in so Greg can go and pursue his career. There's no negativity, no problem."

Greg Halford takes apparent swipe at Eric Black with timely cryptic Twitter dig

Rotherham's Greg Halford appears to have taken a swipe at outgoing assistant manager Eric Black on Twitter.

Black has left his position as number two at the Millers to do a similar role at Aston Villa, with the Premier League club announcing it this afternoon.

Halford's demise at Rotherham, where he has been told he has no future, began with a major training ground bust-up with Black in late September and the utility player was left out of Black's matchday squad in his only game as caretaker manager.

That led to Halford's first of many Twitter outbursts, slamming club "politics" and his position at the club only worsened as new boss Neil Redfearn deemed him surplus to requirements.

It is understood that Halford and Black's relationship was never repaired and less than an hour after Black's appointment at Villa Park was confirmed Halford posted a cryptic message, saying: "It's not what you know nowadays, it's who you know."

It is not the first time Halford has had cryptic but timely digs on the social media site.

In addition to his blast after his Burnley omission he has also suggested he was lied to about the position he would play when signing and that boss Redfearn had not told him he was surplus to requirements at the club.

Halford has not played for the Millers since a substitute appearance at Brighton in mid-September.

Greg Halford hints at being in the dark over Rotherham future

Greg Halford has hinted on Twitter that he is in the dark over his Rotherham future and getting the silent treatment.

The utility player, who has had a turbulent six months at the Millers, is currently out in the cold, with boss Neil Redfearn very publicly telling him he has no future at the New York Stadium.

Redfearn has stated in interviews that Halford is free to find another club after returning from an unsuccessful loan spell at Birmingham.

However, in a number of posts on Twitter, Halford has suggested that he has not been told that personally.

Moments after being seen at the club's Roundwood training ground car park on Thursday afternoon, Halford tweeted: "Good to see the communication here is top notch."

He then followed it up with another cryptic post on Friday morning that said: "Wonder if he will speak to me today. Finally tell me to my face what he is telling everyone else #whoknows #probnot."

Halford has not featured for the Millers since a substitute appearance at Brighton in September and has only been in the matchday squad once under Redfearn.

After arriving as the club's marquee signing in the summer, he was dumped from the captaincy after only eight games before later having a reported major fall-out with coach Eric Black.

It is not the first time Halford has taken to Twitter to vent his frustrations at the Millers, blasting "politics" for being left out against Burnley and hinting that he was signed as a striker.
