Lee Camp calls on Rotherham to show battling spirit
Goalkeeper Lee Camp says only
blood and guts will be enough to keep Rotherham in the Sky Bet Championship
this season.
Camp has been a stand-out
performer for the Millers since joining on transfer deadline day in August, but
even his heroics in goal have been unable to prevent his side losing more games than anyone else in the top four divisions of English football so far this season.
But thanks to a spate of
recent wins, Neil Redfearn’s men remain out of the bottom three heading into
the second half of the season.
They are far from safe,
though, and former Northern Ireland keeper Camp has called for a huge effort to keep them in the division.
“People are going to have to
play injured, people are going to have to put their bodies on the line,” he
said.
“That’s going to be part of
the requirement to keep the club in the division. I think we all know where we’re
at. The away form, we do need to address.
“No one gives you anything.
For 95 minutes of a game you have to graft and scrap and scrape; fight for the
inches to get the points. We’re not picking up enough away from home, that’s
clear for all to see.
“Absolutely I think we can
stay up.
“We’ve got the belief to see the job through. Especially
with the performances at home, there’s more than enough.”
