Paolo Di Canio applies for Rotherham job for second time

Former Sunderland manager Paolo Di Canio has thrown his hat into the ring for the vacant managerial position at Rotherham for a second time.

The Italian has applied for the job at New York Stadium after Neil Redfearn was sacked after just 21 games on Monday.

Di Canio, who knows South Yorkshire following his days as a Sheffield Wednesday player in the late 1990s, applied for the job following Steve Evans' sacking in September, but was not even interviewed for the position Redfearn ended up getting.

His representatives are yet to hear whether he has got further in the process this time around.

The colourful Di Canio has been out of work since leaving Sunderland in September 2013.

He previously took Swindon to promotion in League Two, taking six points off Andy Scott's Millers in the process.
