The 30-year-old played the first seven games of the season before being dropped and losing the captaincy and has featured just once as a substitute since - at Brighton in September.
The exit of Steve Evans has worsened his plight as he has not even featured on the bench in three of the four games after the Scot left the club.
And after he was again left out of the matchday squad for Saturday's 3-0 defeat at Derby, Halford spoke of his discontent.

"I miss game days," he tweeted.@philf54321 r u kidding me. I want to be playing football how is that cancerous u absolute clown— Greg Halford (@GregHalford15) October 31, 2015
After a fan replied calling him "cancerous", Halford responded with: "r u kidding me. I want to be playing football how is that cancerous u absolute clown".
It is not the first time Halford has laid bare his feelings online as he ranted after being left out of the squad for the defeat to Burnley at the beginning of October.
The cryptic messages were later deleted, but had complained about "politics".
